CV:  Hefeng Dong obtained her B.S. in General Physics and M.S. in Theoretical Physics at Northeast Normal University in 1983 and 1986, respectively, and PhD degree in Geoacoustics in 1994 at Jilin University. She worked at the Northeast Normal University, China as lecture and associate professor between 1986-1995 and 1995-1998, respectively.

From November 2002, she was employed as professor in Acoustic Remote Sensing in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (now Electronic Systems)/Acoustics, NTNU, Norway. Since then she has been working on sound propagation in porous media applied to land mine detection and detection of buried objects in the sea floor; modeling of low frequency sound propagation, seabed  characterization, geoacoustic inversion and underwater acoustic communication.

Abstract: This talk presents the characterization of sediment properties using data as exited from a shear source, and some recent research progress on underwater acoustic communication in their group.
